Review: “100 Deadly Skills” by Clint Emerson

Maybe you’ll never be captured by hostile natives, but there’s nothing wrong with being prepared.

Ever since I was a kid, I loved reading “how to” books. They could be about performing magic tricks, folding origami, or making furniture…I didn’t care. I loved learning, and skills always seemed like something worth investing in. My favorite books were those that taught — in children’s terms, mostly — the skills of a “spy.” 100 Deadly Skills

Consider “100 Deadly Skills” the adult version of those books. Whereas those childhood favorite of mine taught readers how to secretly watch someone using a newspaper, this book teaches them how to kill an attacker by using one. It also teaches them how to hot wire cars, escape from captivity, and the proper way to hide things up your bum.

Needless to say, these are skills that most of us will never need to use. We hope. But you can’t go wrong by knowing them anyway. Besides, this is a really interesting read!
